Whether you’re a small business owner, an entrepreneur, or running a digital marketing agency, Q4 is the time to shine. It’s all about getting your message in front of as many people as possible and converting that visibility into sales.
But how do you do that? How do you stand out in the crowded holiday season when everyone is shouting for attention? Well, that’s exactly what we’re breaking down in this episode.
By the end of this podcast, you’ll have actionable tips and strategies to help you expand your social media reach, boost engagement, and make your content work harder for you this holiday season. And as always, I’ll leave you with next steps to take so you can see quick wins by the end of the week. Ready? I know I am! Episode 329 starts right now!
:
First off, let’s talk about why reach is so important, especially
in Q4. This is the most competitive time of the year when it comes
to marketing. People are spending more, but they’re also getting
bombarded with promotions left and right. The brands that succeed
during this time aren’t necessarily the ones with the biggest
budgets—they’re the ones that get seen by the right people at the
right time.
Reach is the amount of people who see your posts, and the more people you reach, the better your chances of converting some of them into customers. That’s why you need a strategy to maximize your reach so you’re not just posting into the BIG BLACK void.
But here’s the thing—reach isn’t just about throwing money at ads. There are plenty of organic ways to get your content in front of more eyeballs. And that’s what we’re going to focus on today. Organic reach is one of my favorite ways to grow social media accounts.
Alright, now let’s break down five powerful strategies that will
help you increase your social media reach during Q4. These are
methods you can start implementing today to make sure your content
gets seen by the right people.
Hashtags are like doorways to larger audiences. During Q4, people are actively searching for holiday-related content. Use trending seasonal hashtags like #HolidayDeals, #GiftIdeas, #GiftIdeasForMom, #GiftIdeasForMen, #BlackFridaySales, or #CyberMonday. But don’t just use the big ones—look for niche hashtags related to your industry. This way, you can target people who are more likely to engage with your content.
Example:
If you’re a fitness coach, you might use hashtags like
#HolidayFitnessTips or #HealthyHolidays to reach people interested
in staying healthy during the holiday season.
One of the easiest ways to increase reach is by getting people to share your content. Think about creating content that’s highly shareable. This could be anything from inspirational quotes, funny holiday memes, or helpful tips.
Pro Tip:
People love holiday giveaways and contests! Create a post that
encourages people to share for a chance to win a product or
service. The more shares, the more new eyes on your content.
Partnering with influencers or complementary businesses can exponentially grow your reach. Find influencers in your niche who align with your brand values. This doesn’t have to mean shelling out for big-name influencers—you can collaborate with micro-influencers, who tend to have highly engaged audiences.
Example:
If you’re a boutique selling handmade jewelry, team up with a
fashion blogger who promotes ethical fashion. They can share your
products, expanding your reach to their followers.
Platforms like Instagram and Facebook have built-in engagement tools like polls, Q&As, and quizzes. These features get people interacting with your content, which in turn tells the algorithm to show it to more people. Polls are an easy way to get immediate engagement.
Example:
Run a quick poll on Instagram asking your audience something fun
like “What’s your favorite holiday movie?” or something related to
your product like “Would you rather get 20% off or a free gift with
purchase?”—the more people engage, the more your post will be shown
to others.
Don’t think you have to create new content from scratch for every platform. Repurpose what you already have. If you wrote a blog post, turn it into an infographic. If you created a YouTube video, pull a few quotes and post them on Instagram. Repurposing allows you to cover more ground without constantly creating new stuff.
Now that you’ve got some key strategies, let’s talk examples! Here
are a few ideas for high-impact social media posts that will
maximize your reach during the holidays:
Holiday Countdown Posts: Create a series of posts that count down to major holidays like Christmas or New Year’s. Each day, reveal a special offer, gift idea, or holiday tip. These keep your audience engaged and coming back for more.
User-Generated Content (UGC): Encourage your customers to share how they’re using your products during the holiday season. Feature their photos or stories on your page—this not only boosts engagement but also builds social proof.
Example:
“Post a picture of your holiday table using our dinnerware and tag
us to be featured on our page!”
Behind-the-Scenes Content: People love seeing the human side of brands. Share behind-the-scenes videos or photos of your team getting ready for the holidays. Maybe it’s footage of packing holiday orders, decorating the office, or creating a new product.
Alright, you’ve got the strategies—now it’s time for your next
steps. Here’s what I want you to do this week to maximize your
social media reach for Q4:
Identify 3 Key Hashtags
Do some research and find three holiday-related hashtags that fit
your industry and niche. Start using these in your next few
posts.
Create One Shareable Piece of
Content
This could be a holiday quote, a meme, or a giveaway post. Your
goal is to encourage your followers to share it with their
audience.
Plan One Collaboration
Reach out to an influencer, brand, or business in your niche and
propose a holiday collaboration. This could be a product swap, a
joint giveaway, or even just cross-promotion.
Quick Win:
By the end of this week, you’ll have a solid plan in place to boost
your reach during Q4. Whether through hashtags, shareable content,
or a collaboration, you’ll be getting in front of more people who
are ready to engage with your brand.
You know I always love to leave you with a ChatGPT prompt. Today is
no different. If you’re struggling with what kind of social media
content to create for Q4, don’t hesitate to use ChatGPT as a
brainstorming tool. You can use it to generate ideas for
holiday-themed posts, engagement questions, or even captions!
Here are a few prompt examples:
“Give me 5 Instagram caption ideas for promoting a holiday giveaway.”
“What are 3 engaging poll questions I can ask my audience during the holidays?”
ChatGPT is a great tool to help you generate fresh ideas when you’re feeling stuck.
